Programs
1.- Geological-mining information infrastructure
Through this program, the country, the private companies, institutions, researchers and students are provided with basic and confident geologic, mining, geochemical and geophysical cartography that may be conveniently used in a very wide range of activities included the mineral deposits exploration.
The program also produces a very impressive volume of geological, geochemical, mining, geophysical, thematic, satellite image and diagrammatic-blocks data, mainly in two scales: 1:250,000 and 1:50,000. It can be freely consulted in the web page, nevertheless, if special reports or coverage is required, are also available in the SGM documentation centers.
- Program of geological-mining cartography scales 1: 250,000 and 1: 50,000
2.- Technological research data (specialized studies)
Natural heritage protection in Mexico is a national priority and commitment of the Mexican Geological Survey in the prevention of environment, so the SGM contributes to the generation of specialized information that would sustain the necessary corrective and preventive actions to avoid negative adverse human and natural activities with negative effects on the surrounding environment.
This program is developed, to a significant extent, supported by the signing of agreements on environmental geology and risk, hydrogeology, geotechnical among others, with national and international institutions, both academic and of scientific and technical cooperation.
3.- Provision of support and geological-mining services
Through this program the Mexican Geological Survey is able to provide to its interested users, at prices and affordable rates, consulting services and professional support for the development of projects of exploration and exploitation of mineral resources.
Its specialized personnel advises, trains and supervises, sometimes through firms or qualified consultants, the requests and needs raised by small and medium mining as well as by social sector mining, through different schemes, such as:
4.- Mineral resources
Through this program the Mexican Geological Survey aims to promote access of the mining community in Mexico to advance knowledge of the nature, distribution and origin of mineral resources and their application in national exploration, in areas such as: exploration, metallogenic, mineral resources inventory and promotion of mining districts, among others.
5.- Information services
Public service provision of the geological-mining information in accordance with the provisions of the law, the Mexican Geological Survey must provide public service of geological-mining information through its Documentation Center of the Earth Sciences (CEDOCIT) Headquarters (Pachuca, Hidalgo.) and its Regional Offices, located in places where traditionally there has been significant mining activity.
